Wind Range & Sizing:
7m - 17 to 40+ knots
The
7m Griffin is the ideal strong wind kite, on a surf board I have been
using the 7m from 17 knots to 45 knots on a twin tip 132cm 83kg, The
kite was in control and nicely behaved with enough de-power to spill the
wind in the 45 knots gusts and enough power to get going in 17-18
knots. The 7m Griffin is ideal for free ride with its massive wind range
and light - medium bar pressure, it is one of the highest jumping kites
available and turns fast enough with enough depower and power to be
ideal for stronger surf style kiting. If you are after a strong wind
kite that handles the gusts like they are not there the Griffin 7m is
the ideal kite.
I would recommend the 7m Griffin over the 7m Argo as a
strong wind kite as the higher aspect is more suited to strong winds
and relaunch in stronger winds is very easy.
9m - 80kg 16 to 32 Knots, 90kg 19 to 40 knots, 70kg 14 to 28 knots
The 9m Griffin is also a great strong wind kite for freeride.
A good all round kite for 70kg or less riders, and a good stronger wind kite for 80kg riders.
10.5m - 80kg 15 to 28 Knots. 90kg 16-17 to 35 knots, 70kg 13 to 22 knots
12m - 14 to 25 knots, 90kg 16-17 to 26 knots, 70kg 12 to 21 knots
14m - 13 - 14 to 22 knots, 90kg 16 to 26 knots, 70kg 13 to 20 knots
16m - 11-12 to 17 knots, 90kg 12-23 to 24 knots, 70kg 8,9-11 to 18 knots
Above are estimated wind ranges from riders feedback. Only ride in
winds suitable for your skill level. Beginners should not go out in
strong winds.
Wind range depends allot on rider weight and board.
