Kite Surf Gear

Kitesurf gear allows a rider to be propelled by the wind over large bodies of water such as the ocean, wide rivers, and lakes. It is a fairly new sport having only been started 25 years ago. There are new innovations to the equipment coming out every single year making this sport safer and more extreme at the same time.

When harnessed to a skilled kitesurfer, kitesurf gear propels the rider across the water at break neck speeds allowing the rider to catch incredibly large airs from the smallest waves and jumps. This offers the rider an incredible experience that is a combination of surfing, wakeboarding, and wind surfing. For board riders this is the current pinnacle of board sports being easy to learn while still being one of the most extreme sports around.

Kitesurf gear is highly specialized and includes an incredibly large kite. The kite typically has an inflatable leading edge and supports to give the kite its shape as well as allowing it to float on the water. The kite is attached to the rider’s control bar with strong lines, usually four or five of them depending on the kite. Often the rider will also be attached to the lines with a harness that allows the rider to cruise for longer times with less effort. Instead of having to pull the entire time, they merely have to steer and the kite will pull their body. The board comes in many styles, some similar to a surfboard, but most are closely related to the wakeboards dual directionality.
