Kitesurfing Board

There are many things that can be used as a kitesurfing board, many surfers have adapted their original surfboards into suitable kite boards by simply adding a couple of straps to secure their feet. A surfboard can be used with no foot straps on days with less wind. A wakeboard, skurf board, water skis, or even a simple piece of wood can be used as an effective kitesurfing board.

The most popular boards are specifically designed for kitesurfing and include foot straps or bindings to keep the board secured to the feet during large airs and at high speeds. These are important and invaluable for nearly every rider, though some riders do prefer to cruise along with no straps.

Another common attribute to a kitesurfing board is bi-directionality. These boards can go equally as well either forward or in reverse, which is called riding switch or fakie. This allows the rider more options in riding style as well as when jumping and performing tricks. A rockered, or curved base is also common and allows for more pop when jumping.
