Kite Surfing Drysuit

The main difference between a kitesurf drysuit and a wetsuit the fact that a dry suit keeps the rider dry being completely waterproof and seam sealed with sealed openings around the hands, feet, and neck. They keep water from entering the suit even when fully submerged. A wetsuit uses the water to insulate the rider keeping a thin layer close to the skin for warmth.

A kitesurf drysuit does not provide any warmth, but materials such as polypropylene can be worn underneath as an insulating layer. The suit has a much looser fit than a wetsui because the material typically will not stretch very much if at all. The extra material is needed to give the rider more range of movement. Many riders prefer these because they are often warmer right from the beginning and rarely flush during a wet landing.

There are some disadvantaged to a kitesurf drysuit though. They are often much more expensive than a wetsuit and if they do fill with any water they are completely useless and often become a heavy burden to the rider. The extra material can also get in the way of performing some maneuvers. Many drysuits designed for kitesurfing and other board sports are tighter fitting than drysuits used for diving. They are a good choice for riding in consistently cold waters.
