A kitesurfing package can be a great idea for a beginning boarder. There are many companies who offer great deals with packages and you may want to consider looking into these deals when you buy your first full size kite.

The type of kitesurfing package depends on the type of rider you want to be. Your style of riding and skill level will directly influence your choice of kite and board. If you are a beginner or want to be more of a cruise rider, going out on long relaxed rides, then you will want to buy a kitesurfing package with the largest board you can get for your weight and a large kite. A large kite will be able to go out on calmer days and a large board has more volume so it will not immediately sink should you loose wind power.

If you want to have a more aggressive style out on the water and focus on jumps and airs, then you will want a kitesurfing package with a smaller board and kite. A smaller kite can be taken out on the water in the highest wind range for kitesurfing. A smaller board will be able to hold down more kite power. This is great for when you advance in the sport, and ride up-wind doing tricks and airs.

As you progress, you will realize that you will need more than one kite and more than one board. Serious riders have three kites and two or three boards to cover the widest wind range. But to begin with, your first kitesurfing package should have as large a board as possible for your weight and a medium sized kite. These pieces of equipment will stay with you throughout your kitesurfing career and will be your light wind riding apparel. Learning on a large board and a medium kite is the best way to discover and perfect your skills in a calm and controlled environment before you progress to the more extreme end of the sport.
