Kite Surfing Packages

Buying all-in-one kitesurfing packages is a great way to get started with the sport. But there are a lot of options out there and knowing where to start and what type to buy can be confusing. This article should take some of the confusion out of that choice.

Before you buy any style of kitesurfing packages, there are factors to consider. Factors such as the wind conditions in your area, in particular the wind speed. Also consider what style of rider you want to be. Do you want to be a cruiser, going out for long, mellow rides carving up the waves? Or do you want to be a more aggressive rider, going hard and pulling jumps and turns?

You will also need to consider your weight. Your weight will influence the size or kite and board you buy. For example, if you the average weight of a kitesurfer, which is 175-180lbs, your small kite will be 7-9 square meters, your medium kite will be 12-14 square meters and your larger kite will be 15-17 square meters.

It is important to understand that not all these kites will work at all wind speeds. Large kites work in light winds of 10-15mph, medium kites work in winds of 15-20mph and small kites work in high winds of 20-25mph. When you progress in the sport you will probably want to own two or three kites to cover that whole wind range, but to begin with in your first kitesurfing package, buy a medium sized kite.

A medium kite has the most wind range. So you can take this kite out in light winds, when it is underpowered and learn and perfect the basic movements in a safe and controlled condition. Never take your medium kite out in high winds, this can prove extremely dangerous.

The next decision you need to make with all kitesurfing packages is what sized board you need. The board is influenced by your weight and by the style of riding you want to do. If you want to cruise you will want a larger board, because you can go out into the water with less wind power and the experience will be easier on your body, so you can stay out there longer. If you want to get into a more aggressive style then you will want a smaller board. Smaller boards can hold down more kite power, and release it into a big jump. They are also nimble and easier to jump with.

To begin with, buy kitesurfing packages with a large board. Large boards are easier to learn with. They will not immediately sink when you loose power from bad kite placement. Your large board will stay with you as you progress with the sport. The large board will be your go to board in light wind situations.

The next piece of the puzzle is the harness. When you start out, buy kitesurfing packages that have a seat harness. These are going to provide you with ample back support. They also have leg straps that will prevent the harness from riding up your body making the experience out on the water really uncomfortable. When you progress in the sport, you may want to switch to a waist harness that will free up your body for more spins and tricks.

Hopefully this information will help you make the right choice when you select your first kitesurfing package. Remember to ask advice from a local expert. They will know the area, know the conditions and can give you specific advice that is going to take out the guesswork from buying kitesurfing packages.
