Kite Surfing Trainer Kite

A kitesurfing trainer kite is smaller than the standard kite. The average kite is 12 square meters or larger: a kitesurfing trainer kite is 2 square meters. Your training kite will mainly be used on land, to gain an understanding of wind movement and direction. If you are using your training kite on land, then a foil kite is recommended to prevent any damage. If you have never directed a kite before, then learning with a kitesurfing trainer kite on land will be really beneficial to you when you finally get out onto the water.

When you first get out into the water you will still use your kitesurfing trainer kite. The small training kites used on the water will be inflatable, used for their floatation and re-launchability. The smaller kitesurfing trainer kite will generate minimal power, so you wont feel in danger of being overpowered by the kite. You will be able to purchase most kitesurfing trainer kites for around $200.

When you progress from a kitesurfing trainer kite to a full sized kite, you will still need to buy the right kite for your abilities. No one kite will work in every wind condition. Smaller kites work in high winds and larger kites work in low winds. Typically, when you move from a kitesurfing trainer kite to a real kite, it is advisable to buy a medium sized kite. A medium kite will have the largest wind range and can be taken out in low winds, underpowered, where you can perfect your stance, turns and body positioning in a calm and relaxed environment.
