Kite Surfing Wetsuits

Kitesurfing wetsuits have to keep a rider warm while they are in the water, just like an ordinary wetsuit, but they also have to keep the rider warm in high winds outside of the water, something that a diving wetsuit is not well suited for. The main difference between these wetsuits is a wind proof coating on the outside of the suit.

Kitesurfing wetsuits have very similar characteristics to a normal wetsuit. The rider still needs to choose the correct thickness for the temperature of water they will be riding in. The way the seams are stitched and sealed is just as important to a kitesurfer as it is to a scuba diver, with glued seams providing the best warmth in cold water. The openings should resist flushing especially for kitesurfers who are in and out of the water more often than a diver is.

The materials used on kitesurfing wetsuits consist of large amounts of super stretch neoprene. This is especially important on the back and joints but if it can be afforded there are entire suits made of this flexible, warm material. The addition of smoothy, a rubber coating on the outside of the suit, prevents wind from cooling the water and making the suit cold when used on top of the water.
